All male or female undergraduate students at The Pennsylvania State University are encouraged to join.
Why should I join WIB?
Women In Business can teach you how to succeed in a competitive professional environment; provide you with helpful, relevant information for your career/internship search; create opportunities for you network with representatives from Fortune 500 companies; allow you to interact with faculty members in an informal setting; help you to get involved within the University and Penn State Dance Marathon (THON); and present an opportunity for you to meet other students, make new friends, and have fun.
How can I join WIB?
Come to any of our events and sign up. You can also email Rachana Kondapaturu, who can give you more information about our events and membership requirements.
How much are dues?
Dues are $25 for the semester or $40 for the year. Dues are expected through cash and check (made out to Women in Business). Contact Katie Cepullio for more questions.
When are dues due?
Dues are due at the second Involvement Night of the semester. If you do not pay your dues at this time, you are not considered an active member.
How do I know if I am an active member?
An active member must have at least 20 points and have paid his/her dues on time. Membership points are frequently updated, if you have any problems with the points you are rewarded, contact our Membership Director, Rachana Kondapaturu.
When are office hours?
Office hours are held every Monday 12:30-2:00pm EST and Wednesday 2:00-3:30pm EST unless noted otherwise. Come to office hours to pay dues, pick up WIB purchases, or for advice regarding anything WIB or professional-related.
How can I become a part of the WIB Executive Board?
An application to be part of the Executive Board will be sent out prior to the start of the 4th Involvement Night at the end of the Spring semester. You must submit the application to the President, Michelle Liang, and interviews will be scheduled with selected applicants. After the interview process, applicants who our president, Michelle Liang, deems to be the best fit for any given position will be offered the position on the Executive Board. You must be an active member, fulfilling all point credits, prior to the application process.
What type of events does WIB have to offer?
WIB holds corporate meetings, the Powerful Women Paving the Way Conference, community service events, THON events, socials, Power of Us, and many other networking opportunities.
With what community service events is WIB involved?
WIB is involved with Penn State’s THON, Penn State’s Homecoming, The Power of Us day of service and other various causes with organizations throughout the year.

What is THON?
THON is Penn State’s 46 hour dance marathon in support of kids with cancer. The money raised benefits the Four Diamond Fund at the Penn State Children's Hospital in Hershey, PA. The student-run event takes place on one weekend during February. Students stand on their feet for 46 hours without any sleep.
What is a WIB dancer?
A WIB dancer dances all 46 hours without sitting or sleeping during THON weekend. The dancer not only represents WIB but also our THON children Megan, MaryAnn, and Lakeisha.
How can I become a WIB dancer?
To become a dancer, contact Shannon Saclyn. WIB is only allowed a certain number of dancers so be sure to attend as many of WIB’s THON events as possible.
How can I be more involved with THON through WIB?
Join our THON Committee! The THON committee helps organize fundraising and other events in support of our THON child. Contact our THON chairs if you are interested or check the weekly update for applications.
